Stretching, degreasing, and printing, oh my!

My apologies for not posting the last couple of days but I have been very busy in the screen prinitng studio with stretching screens, degreasing screens to prep them for emulsion, and then printing another test design.

I use the stretch cord method to stretch all of my screens. This way my studio is completely self sufficient when it comes to re-stretching the mesh when the time comes. It's also a lot cheaper than buying the pre-stretched frames. It's a real killer on the hands though. I did 15 of them over 2 days.

After stretching the screens I degrease them to get them ready for the emulsion. I'm going to do that maybe tonight or tomorrow. I need to make more room to store all of them.

Last night I stayed up till around 2:00 a.m. doing a test run print on another design. Again, I was very pleased with the outcome. I'm getting closer and closer to buying the over size transparencies so I can break out of this 8.5"x11" box that I have been working in.

Frames, frames, and more frames! YEAH!

My new batch of 19 frames came in this week so I've been busy applying polyurethane to seal and protect them from warping during use. This makes it a total of 32 frames that I have already. I use the stretch cord method to stretch the screens which makes it very easy to be a self sufficient silk screen studio. I'll be done tomorrow with sealing the second batch of frames so hopefully this weekend I will be able to test another one of my designs that I have ready on transparencies to burn onto screens. Next week I plan on stretching all of the frames with mesh and prep them for emulsion.
